| Jumpin' college dance. |
I'm Bob Cronin, aka dj BC. I've been DJing at clubs, events and parties of all kinds since 1996. College formals and dances, corporate events, holiday parties, weddings, community events, and fashion shows- you name it! I have also DJed at Boston clubs including The Rack and Club Joy, and I have a regular night at The Independent in Somerville. I became a DJ because I love music and I love to rock a party. I have a really great time spinning, but I am not your average cheeseball DJ- I don't tend to wear an inflatable shark hat and give Macarena lessons. I'm more interested getting people to dance by playing great music!
I have an expansive collection, from the latest dance singles all the way back to the songs of the jazz and swing era, including the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80’s, R&B, disco, hip-hop, classic rock, Motown and funk, latin, reggae, pop/Top 40, rock and more. I bring about 1500-2000 CDs to each event, totaling thousands of songs. I am happy to take requests and I bring a binder so folks can flip through and request songs. I’d also welcome your requests by email beforehand. I spin using CDs, two Pioneer CDJ1000s running into a Roland DJ800 mixer, and a dedicated amp with 300 watts per side and 3-way speakers. I also bring some effect lights, and I have a smoke machine available (please request ahead of time).
I'm a remixer and mashup artist, my most well-known projects being The Beastles albums (Beastie Boys vs The Beatles), Wu Orleans (New Orleans music vs Wu Tang Clan) and Glassbreaks (Philip Glass vs Hip Hop). My mixes and DJ work have appeared (or been mentioned) in Rolling Stone, Spin, boingboing.net, Billboard, Newsweek, The Washington Post, The Toronto Star, The Boston Globe, The Boston Phoenix (“Bostons Best Lawbreaker 2005”), as well as publications in the UK and France. A “Beastles” track has been featured in promos on MTV Brasil.

The great thing about dropping a few mashups at a party is that I can play tunes people already know and love, but when it's mixed in a way that no one has ever heard before, or combined with something unexpected, it’s fresh, presenting the recognizable/dancable elements in an exciting way. I can play as many or as few original mixes as you ask, aiming primarily to please the crowd and get them dancing. A few alternate mixes here and there keep things lively, but I realize they are not for every event.
I'd like to meet with you beforehand to discuss how you envision the event- music you'd like to hear, any annoucements or microphone needs, the party's schedule, theme, set-up and any other details. Whether you want an elegant cocktail hour, or a bangin' dance party, or both, I'll bring it!
Thanks- please feel free to email me with any questions!

Many thanks for all you did for our holiday party this past Saturday. It was a
pleasure to finally meet you and we were very pleased with the music played.
Historically, we have hired DJs that have played music they, themselves enjoy.
That would work perfectly if everyone I worked with also enjoyed the same
musical selections as the DJ, but of course that has not been the case. You
played the perfect dinner music followed with a wide variety of dance music, so
that everyone got up to dance to at least one song. I also appreciated the fact
that you played all requested songs, which I know our employees were very happy
about. A few of our employees asked me for your name and wondered how I found
out about you because they were impressed with your selections. That in itself
spoke volumes to me since I am usually the one who receives the complaints, not
the praise.
We are very pleased with the way the party went and very pleased with music.
Many thanks for all of your assistance in throwing a great holiday party.
Regards,
Carey Capone

Thanks again for doing such a great job DJ'ing for our party last weekend. We were all so happy that we were able to
get you on such short notice! The music that you played was perfect for both the occasion and for our mixed
crowd...you really helped to create a "festive" atmosphere. (And, we were especially impressed that you not only played
all of our requests, but even came equipped with SALSA music!)
I'll definitely recommend you to anyone who may be looking for a DJ, and if we need one ourselves in the future, I
hope that you'll come.

Bob Cronin DJ'd the main Saturday Night Dinner and Dancing event at our 20th Harvard Reunion and we literally danced the night away! Every interaction was a pleasure; not only is Bob a fabulous DJ, with an extensive and
diverse play list, a sense of how to keep the party going and read the crowd, a willingess to take requests, and a "go with the flow" attitude (it
poured on our event, which meant constantly changing logistics and scheduling) but he's a
supreme professional, handling every aspect of his business with courtesy and
care.
I'd hire him for any event.

I would definitely recommend Bob Cronin to anybody looking for a DJ for their party. He played a great mix of music,
kept the dancing going, and was extremely receptive to all kinds of requests, which is so key for a successful dance
party.

DJ BC offers a versatile collection of hits, which he spins with great skill, creating a lively and pumping atmosphere for
any party. His ecclectic tastes and offerings allow for a wide range of music - if you're a Britney follower, or a die-hard
'80's fan, or a disco queen, DJ BC can cater to anyone's musical whims. Even the holdovers from the grunge era of the
early '90s. He responds to all kinds of requests and environments and will turn any venue into a kicking fiesta!
-Charlotte Houghteling, Crimson Key Society
Bob,
The feedback about Saturday was great. The kids have told me that it was as much fun as the prom and you were the reason. I will definitely recommend you to others. As far as I'm concerned, working with you was terrific. You were
responsible, responsive, fun and a fabulous DJ, with something for
everyone.
Thanks again,

Bob Cronin did a fantastic job with our event. The music was great, and he happily accommodated song requests from
the guests. Overall, Bob handled the party in a very professional manner. We look forward to using DJ BC in the future,
and we would definitely recommend that others hire him for their events.

I worked with Bob Cronin at a party with over 500 people. I believe a critical part of its success was Bob as DJ. The
selection was perfect. People today are still commenting on what a fun time they had and what a great time they had
dancing. In terms of working with Bob, he was dependable, even showing up early; he was responsive to my music
suggestions both before and during the event; and finally, he was able to make his own recommendations to make the
event a great success. I would highly recommend Bob Cronin for any function.

Thanks Bob- you're the best!! I really had a great time dancing to your music on Friday. You are a terrific DJ and I'll do
my best to spread the word.

Bob: I thought you did a great job. As a professional sales person I liked your style of coming in and listening to me
beforehand to understand what my needs were. You executed my wishes in a large part because you did this. You were
helped, obviously, by your wide selection of music and your own skill set. So, all in all, you did a great job at playing
the perfect music for that kind of scene.
The feedback from my guests has been all positive as well. I think our idea of building up the music in which we
moved from R&B; to Funk and then to Dance/House was a great idea. I would recommend you to anyone and I am
interested in hiring you again for a December party. We can talk about that later.
Thanks again. Stay in touch.
-Dave Boyle
You know we think you are great, which is why we want you back again next year! Your choice of music was
absolutely appropriate to the occasion, just as it was last year. Your tunes created just the right sort of celebratory mood.
I like that you include lesser known music, as most dj's tend to stick with a certain type of trendy genre as opposed to
the creativity of your selection. We definitely need to slate you in for next year.

Recommendation for Bob Cronin, Super DJ :)
As a social chair for my sorority finding a DJ for our winter formal was a huge deal. Our formal is the main event of the
semester, and the closer to perfection we get, the happier we are, which is why we don't take choosing a DJ lightly!
We found Bob Cronin through word-of-mouth, and I contacted him immediately. Within a few hours, we were already
negotiating. Right away, he seemed enthused, helpful, and understanding. Not only was he available on short notice,
but he was able to meet with me before the formal to work out any kinks. He seemed to be as devoted as the sorority
was to make the formal terrific.
At the formal itself, girls raved about the music; some said that it was the best yet. He had a terrific mix, and seemed to
know when was the right time to play that popular 80's song or change to a slow song. When our formal had to wind
down early, he still kept his good spirits about him.
All in all, I've never been more pleased with a DJ. When the music is perfect and the DJ is affordable, the formal is just
bound to be a success. I would recommend him to anyone.

Oh, What a Night!
Mark your calendars upperclass students because the 1999 President's Ball is only one year away.
Upperclassmen, graduate students and even visitors from Yale joined the class of 2001 at the annual
administration-hosted gala event on Saturday, March 14.
The music drew an enthusiastic crowd...The music was great and the dancing was fast, a very un-Harvard party.
-Barbara E. Martinez
If you're throwing a party where you think that it would be great if everyone was standing around, holding warm drinks,
eating all the chex mix, and saying things like "So, what did you think of the Seinfeld Final Show ?" and "Wow ! 11:15
I didn't know that it was so late !" then I do NOT think hiring DJ BC would be a good idea. In fact, it would be terrible.
However, if you want people dancing like freaks and having a great old time, then he's the man. When he spun for a
house party I threw in Somerville, people wanted to stay til dawn and talked about how much fun they had for weeks.
He'll play all the songs that you want to hear, plus all the ones that are twice as hoppin' that you forgot about. Have Fun!
-Justin Blumenstiel
Dear Bob,
I'm still dancing!! I just wanted to take the time to thank you for participating in the Jack and Jill shower for my cousin
Stacey in July. Not only were your selections to our request for disco music right on the money, but watching you "bust
up the dance floor" with us was great. I have recommended you to everyone I know planning a party and can't wait for
the next one.
-Kathleen Bray
Once again, you did a fantastic job with our party downtown at the Prudential Center - the selection of music you had
was superb - I really enjoyed the more mellow stuff at the beginning before the rush. We appreciated your flexibility
with the short notice as well as with the interruptions during the party.
Last spring when you did our end of the year party, again, the music was great and everyone had just a terrific time - we
heard about you from the Admissions office who also felt that you did a great job with Freshman week last year. I
actually prefer using student vs. outside DJs because I just feel like you relate to us and have a better understanding of
what we like (which you clearly do!)
I would be more than happy to recommend you to other student groups on campus - please tell any of your clients to
feel free to call or e-mail me. In fact, if anyone asks me about a DJ, your name will be the first one I mention!
Sincerely,
Jessica Wu

Hey Bob, Now that the prefrosh have headed home I wanted to take a moment to thank you for DJ-ing the Ice Cream
Bash. Everyone who attended the program in past years felt the music was a tremendous addition to the event. Your
selection was terrific! We would love you to do it again next year. Thanks so much for your help!
Cheers,

The other night I had this girl over and she tried to pin me down by asking me what kind of music I listened to. I tried to explain my stance of passionate eclecticism towards music, suggesting that I like anything as long as its good. She was shocked by skimpy music collection and simply couldn't understand. So I played her a mixed tape of yours and said something like: you wanna know what I like? This is what I like. I realize that I depend on you for my musical fix. You are one of the few DJs (that i have easy access to) that understands. I think that should be your motto: DJBC---he understands. Please send a new mixed CD ASAP. I can send you a blank CD if you are short on cash.
